Simple Secrets for a Happier, Healthier Life

In today’s busy life, we often ignore our health and happiness. I myself was once caught up in this race and realized that I had become so busy with work, social media and daily responsibilities that I had almost forgotten to give time to myself. This not only exhausted my body but I was also always stressed mentally. But some small habits changed my life completely. These habits taught me that being happy and healthy is not a difficult task, you just need to adopt them and include them in your daily routine.

In my experience, if you start your day with positive thoughts and light physical activity, then the whole day is filled with happiness and energy. Earlier, as soon as I woke up in the morning, I used to run straight to the phone or social media, which made my mood even more sad and stressed.

  • Positive affirmations: Wake up in the morning and say to yourself, “Today will be a day full of happiness and success for me.” This small practice can change your mood for the whole day.
  • Light stretching or yoga: Just 10-15 minutes of light stretching increases blood flow in the body and relaxes the muscles.
  • Small routine successes: Like drinking water, making your bed, or watering the plants. These small habits give satisfaction to the mind and start the day with a positive thinking.

My Experience

I started waking up early in the morning and just doing 10 minutes of stretching and meditation. Within the first week, I realized that my energy level was high and my mood was good throughout the day. Now this morning habit has become the most important part of my life.

2. Follow a balanced and nutritious diet

Food is not just a means to fill the stomach. Eating right has a profound effect on our body, mind and mood. Earlier, I used to often eat outside fast food or junk food. It was fun initially, but gradually I realized that it was having a negative impact on my skin, energy and mood.

  • Nutritious breakfast: Take oats, daliya, egg, or fruits. These provide energy to the body for the whole day.
  • Balanced lunch: Green vegetables, pulses and light food provide proper nutrition to the body.
  • Have light and timely dinner: Eating heavy meals or late at night affects sleep and digestion.

My Experience

I started eating light dinner. It was a little difficult in the beginning, but now I sleep better, my stomach is light and I can get up easily in the morning. I realized that eating right not only helps in physical health but also helps in mental balance.

3. Do light exercise daily

Exercise is not just for physical fitness, but it is also very important for mental health. Earlier, I used to always postpone exercise, thinking it was too much work. But when I included it in my daily routine, I started seeing a difference.

  • 20-30 minutes of walking or yoga: Walking, yoga or light dance for at least 20 minutes every day brings energy to the body.
  • Exercise at home: If it is difficult to go to the gym, then do stretching, light workout or online dance class at home.

My Experience

I started walking around the house. It was a bit frustrating at first, but it slowly became a habit and I noticed a greater flexibility, less stress, and better mood. Now it’s the most fun part of my day.

4. Drink enough water and stay hydrated

Drinking water is very important for our health and mental state. Earlier I used to often forget to drink water and would feel tired throughout the day.

  • 7-8 glasses of water a day: This is essential for all the body processes.
  • Set a reminder: If you forget, set a reminder on your phone.

My Experience

When I made it a habit to drink water with a reminder, my skin glowed, my energy increased, and I felt refreshed throughout the day. Water is not just a way to quench thirst, it is also the key to happiness and health.

5. Limit screen time and social media

Excessive use of social media and mobile increases mental stress. Earlier I used to stay on the phone till late at night, due to which I would get less sleep and my mood would remain bad throughout the day.

  • Digital detox: Do not take more than 1-2 hours of screen time a day.
  • Turn off your phone before going to bed: This improves the quality of sleep and makes it easier to wake up in the morning.

My Experience

I started using my phone less at night and found that my sleep improved, my mood improved and it became easier to get up in the morning. Balanced use of social media is important for mental health.

6. Get enough sleep and go to bed on time

Sleep is very important for our health, energy and mental state. Earlier I used to stay awake till late at night and was not able to get enough sleep due to work and social media.

  • Habit of sleeping at 10 pm: This gives adequate rest to both body and mind.
  • 7-8 hours of sleep: This is the ideal time for adequate sleep.

My Experience

When I started getting enough sleep by changing my bedtime, my daytime fatigue decreased, my stress decreased and I feel active and happy throughout the day. Sleep not only balances the body but also mental health.

7. Adopt a spirit of gratitude

Being grateful for small things keeps our mind happy. Earlier I used to often ignore small joys.

  • At night, express gratitude for three things: like family’s love, a friend’s help, or a small accomplishment.
  • Write down gratitude: Make it a habit to write in a notebook.

My Experience

When I developed a habit of gratitude, even small joys began to seem bigger. Stress decreased and positivity in life increased. This became the biggest strength of my mental balance.

8. Take time for yourself

We are always busy with the needs and work of others and forget to have time for ourselves.

  • Take a few hours a week just for yourself: make time for your hobbies, relaxation and favourite activities.
  • Do things that make you happy: read a book, listen to music, or take a walk alone.

My Experience

I started keeping 2 hours every week just for myself. This keeps the mind calm, increases happiness and gives a feeling of balance in life.

9. Spend time with positive people

The people around us have a great impact on our mood and thinking.

  • Keep distance from negative people.
  • Spend time with positive and inspiring people.

My Experience

I reduced my negative friendships and environments. Now I have people who inspire me and I am always in a good mood.
